On February 23-24 2026, it.com Domains participated in Domain Summit Africa 2026, held in Nairobi, Kenya. Rolandas Japertas, Business Development Manager at it.com Domains, represented the company at the Summit which was organized by Helmuts Meskonis, Founder of London Domain Summit and Advisor of it.com Domains.
Originally launched in London, Domain Summit has steadily expanded its geographic footprint over the years, hosting editions in Europe and Asia before arriving in Africa for the first time in 2026. The Nairobi edition marked an important milestone in the event’s evolution, reflecting the growing influence of the African digital economy and its domain ecosystem.
The it.com Domains team has been an active participant in Domain Summit London since its inception in 2022, supporting the platform as it grew into an international meeting point for the industry.
The Domain Summit Africa brought together registry operators, registrars, investors, technology providers, policy experts and those who support the growth of the domain industry across emerging and established markets to discuss the future of the domain ecosystem in Africa and beyond.
One of the key highlights of the summit was the ‘New gTLD Round Discussion Panel – Technologies and Opportunities,’ where Rolandas Japertas took part as a speaker. During the session, he shared his expert perspective on the upcoming round of the ICANN’s (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) New gTLD (generic top-level domain) Program and discussed the technological, strategic, and business opportunities it presents.

Rolandas’ speech at the panel discussion
The discussion focused on how applicants and industry stakeholders can prepare for the next expansion of the domain name space, what innovations are shaping registry operations, and how new gTLDs can unlock additional value for brands, communities, and entrepreneurs worldwide. Particular attention was given to readiness for the next application window and the importance of long-term strategic planning.
As a Global Partner of Domain Summit Africa 2026, it.com Domains actively engaged with industry leaders and regional stakeholders, strengthening partnerships and exploring new collaboration opportunities across the African digital landscape.

For us, joining the African edition was a natural continuation of this journey. We were truly pleased to take part in the Domain Summit’s first gathering on the African continent and to contribute to the conversations shaping the region’s digital future,

Participation in Domain Summit Africa 2026 reflects it.com Domains’ ongoing dedication to industry dialogue and innovation, especially as the next round of ICANN’s New gTLD Program approaches.
Our company is paying close attention to the upcoming round, not just as a registry operator but also as an ICANN-evaluated Registry Service Provider (RSP). We’ve developed a reliable and secure platform for anyone planning to apply for and operate their own domain extension, enabling them to manage it efficiently,
