I've read in a couple places where it sounded like people were saying you could register a domain, test it for traffic and then return it within 5 days and get a refund of most of your registration fee. Is this correct? If so is this a standard policy of all registrars or it varies? I have godaddy, but don't know what their policy is....

#1. true
#2. No/varies
#3. godaddy sucks
#4. moniker allows testing

yea its a good way to drop the useless names.

Thanks for the info, I am going to open an account at Moniker then. At over $9 a pop to register it's starting to get to expensive to do business with Godaddy....

So, how long do you have to START with the "testing" process? I bought a .org in August just to get a free private listing. (3 domains or more, deal)

All I'm using it for is to re-direct to the actual .com, but can I take that off and "test" it? Or does it have to be within 5 days of purchasing the domain?

You may also PM one of the Moniker Reps on the DNForum for a special DNForum member price!

Is this a special price on registering domains? Also can you kindly tell me who I can ping.... not sure who the moniker reps are. thanks

Hey I have another question on this for anyone.... how do you do your testing? The way I was doing mine with godaddy was to sign up for free hosting, then install statcounter or google analytics code in index.html. But looks like Moniker does not offer free hosting. Is there a better way than how I was doing it? Thanks for all replies....

Domain "testing"?
++++++++++++++++

:yo:

It's actually called "Domain Tasting".

Bob Parson's of GoDaddy calls it "Domain Kiting".

So if you see that term you'll know it's refering to the same thing.

Be aware that many Registrars that allow you to drop a domain
within 5 days will charge you the 25 cents ICAAN fee.

you can cancel domains on Godaddy whenever whatever you want.
But it never gives you refund!~ :)
