I personally don't think that the domain "DomainOverload.com" is worth that much. I just don't see the commercial potential for as far as selling domains or for any other purpose. With a name like Domain Overload it's almost like telling the internet domain shoppers "there's too many domains on this site to sift through and many of them are not of quality." I guess it could be a site showing dropped or deleted domains. That's just my opinion.
As far as the "cool tool" - I think that there is more to picking a good domain than running it through some type of "cool tool." The "cool tool" that I've seen on this website is one indicator of the potential success of a domain name and it could be useful in some ways. However, there are more variables to analyze than what the cool tool looks at and I don't agree with some of the values given to the extensions. For instance, I think that .us extension should be given a higher rating since they are already selling now and will sell more once the kids.us campaign starts in mid-2003). I've already sold industrialsupplies.us for
$2300.00 within minutes after I put it for sale on the old Afternic.com.
I think you have to look at picking a domain name as more of an art than a precise science.
For picking a .com name, I would try to access the potential commercial uses for the name and that would give you an idea of the amount of potential buyers. I would also evaluate the domain for it's length (the shorter the better) and it's spelling (correct spelling is better). I would also run a TM search to avoid TM infringement.
If I am picking any domain with an extension other than .com, I would do the same things that I mentioned above plus add the following "to do" items. I would try to see how the dot com site looks. If the corresponding .com site is functional, looks good, and is owned by a company - there's a good chance that the same domain in a different extension may be valuable.
Also if the other extensions (except the one you're trying to register) are taken - then there's a good chance that the one you want to register is valuable. This last statement holds true especially if all of the other extensions are taken for that domain and they are developed sites by companies selling products.
To sum up my opinion, I don't think that DomainOverload.com has much potential because I don't see many commercial uses for it. I could be wrong though.
I've also given you my method of how I pick domain names to register. You may or may not want to adopt my method. We all have different ways of doing things and that's what makes the world go round.
Take care,
