I just sent an email to domainsite asking them to reduce my renewal fee price from $7.99 to $6.99 (as per initial registration price) - However I was declined, and stated was that they do not lower the fee for anyone no matter how many domains are in thier account.

I had no idea it was $7.99 to renew a domain, even though transfering and 1-year registrations are $6.99. I cannot stand it when companies try to force additional fees onto thier clientbase, and find it quite frivolous.

So, just wanted to let everyone that uses DS know about this. And I'm currently looking at other registrars for my names to reside at. Moniker seems to be the best choice? Any other reccomendations?

That's something you'll have to expect from now on. Registrars base prices of
their domain name registrations and other services on their business models.

In case you didn't know, registrars pay $6 to the Verisign Registry for every
.com registration, renewal, and transfer they accept within their systems. So
Domainsite let you register a domain name originally for $6.99, pay the $6 fee
to Verisign, and that leaves them $0.99.

Imagine trying to make money that way, although registrars nowadays don't
exactly make money through domain names only anymore.

But that's why Domainsite gave you options. Note their pricing table:

And service providers are within their rights to change prices anytime. If you
don't like it, then don't use them.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
