Sedo announced this morning (no official link yet) that it has brokered the sale of a domain portfolio of 475 domains for 2.38 Million Euro (approximately 3.1m USD). The domains were sold by Hassler & Mair GmbH, operators of a former German ISP (profi.net). This constitutes one of the biggest published sale of a .DE portfolio. The buyer, DomCollect Worldwide Intellectual Property AG, a Swiss based company, is 100% owned by the broker, Sedo and holds over 100,000 domains in its domain portfolio. According to attendees, the sale took place before DomainPulse, which took place on February 12/13 in Dresden Germant. The sale was mentioned at the event.

nice package of names. some of us who bought into .eu hope this will happen for us too soon.

but .de is for germans at least 10x more valuable than .com or .eu

everybody prefers his own ccTLD (.com for USA)
except
a, it is too expensive
b, some restrictions
c, local nic does not provided it yet

The buyer, DomCollect Worldwide Intellectual Property AG, a Swiss based company, is 100% owned by the broker, Sedo and holds over 100,000 domains in its domain portfolio.

So basically Sedo bought the domains?

So basically sedo brokered the sale to itself?

Domcollect buys on dnf btw, just that they want super-premiums or very high traffic domains, maybe the portfolio had huge revenue, don't see them paying 3.1mm otherwise.

Been saying about cctlds for a bit ;) great to see other people recognising it too.

Yes,

Domcollect is a 100% subsidiary of Sedo.

We are looking for super-premiums and revenue domains as well, just follow the link in my signature ;)

Great investment.

Reminds me when Adam Dicker bought out all remaining LLL.ca domains a couple of years ago... very shrewd and farsighted investment.

Ironically, as recently as last December, he told Ron Jackson of DNJ :

I have never been a great believer in country code domains
...

;)
