id Software publishes the highly successful first person shooter videogame, Doom.
Work has already started on Doom4.

They also own a registered trademark for "Doom" and other marks for "Doom II", "Doom 3" and "Final Doom".

In other words, unless you are prepared to lose the domain you might want to negotiate with them. Otherwise, I don't see how you'd get a quarter of a million dollars for what's essentially a negative word.

Arco.. Just because they have a trademark on doom, cant i sell it to someone who is looking to put a search engine on there since it is a "generic" word?

I can see if i sold it, or they tried to sue for it, but the reality is, it is a word doom, it can be used in many sentences, it isnt just related to a game and movie, true or false?

The use determines the enforcement of the tm. Use it for world news about e.g. financial doom and gloom and you are ok. Use it with reference to FPS games and you might be in trouble.

I hate to ask the obvious: do you own it?

I don't think it's worth anything close to 250k, or 100k for that matter. I'd probably peg this at about 30-35k, to be honest.

And be careful if you go down the search engine route... all it would take is for one of ID Software's lawyers to type in Doom 3 into the search bar there, take a screenshot and start UDRP.
