I would like to record DVD's onto an external hard drive and then send that hard drive to my nephew in Iraq.

What is the easiest way to take a current DVD and download that DVD to an external hardrive?

Need to really make this easy for me as this will be the first time I have done this.

Yes, I have a DVD reader/writer on my computer but I am not into duplicating DVD's.

Just want to take a DVD I have and download that movie to a hard drive.

I am using Windows XP pro.

Go to bestbuy and buy a western digital external hard drive. There awesome, just bought one myself and backed up all my photos onto it for safe keeping.

I've got plenty of external hard drives.

I want to know how to save a dvd movie to it.

Is there other software I have to buy that will do it?

Or something I already have, shareware, or freebie?

As for WD Hard drive, I've been reading about this:

Great reviews and many mention how to make this wireless and tap into your existing hard drive (on PC or whatever) using this:

right click copy and paste the dvd onto the external hard drive. only way i know how to do it, probably take a long time.

There are tons of DVD ripping software out there BUT - have your nephew check their servers, friends of mine have told me they already have access to TONS of movies, TV shows, etc.. all for free (including new-in theater releases)
