I am!

Just changed DNS on one of my domains 2 minutes ago and it is already
resolving to my new server.

Now that's what I call FAST!

So what happens to the zone file? Is it dynamically updated on their end but only uploaded twice a day with updates? What makes this all possible and why didn't they think of it the first time around?

It's still updated only twice per day.

Not sure how they did it, but I know it wasn't too hard.

Internic.net is not updating instantaneously (yet), which is too bad. It would help in Escrow situations, so that the WHOIS updates faster.

NameCheap is an enom reseller, and I used enom too. Wonder why it's taking
so long for you...

The TTL for name servers still seems to be 2 days, so the DNS servers you're using probably still have the old name servers cached.

I don't understand your logic, guys. You wait 5 years for a domain to drop and you want instantaneous "Rapid DNS"?

hmm...I guess you deal with domains having 100,000 unique visitors a day... I guess that means a revenue loss of $2,000 per sec. I understand.

my dns changes from all my regsitrars take a minimum of 24 hours, usually 48 hours, and sometimes 72 hours.
Where is this fast update?

since you're such a smartass, let me explain it in terms a smartass might
understand.

this example is from a domain i was selling about a week or so ago.

there were about 10+ interested buyers, and since i offered traffic testing
on their servers, each wanted me to change DNS.

the dns on that particular domain took almost a week to fully propagate.

that means that it will take me a few months just to let these people
test the domain name on their DNS for a few days. does that sound
practical?

since it was a high traffic domain, i’d lose money even if i ended up
charging for the traffic tests because of the long propagation time.

time is money.

any more sarcastic posts you gonna pull out of that sleeve?

Luc, how do you get these fast changes/propogation at enom??

and also, doesnt it depend on the xone files picked up by ISP's around the world to 'see' were it is pointing to?

yes it does.

and i'm not entirely sure why or how it worked so fast.

i tested it on 2 domains 2 days ago and both changed DNS almost
immediately. both were enom domains.
