This is a review of my recent adventures with eNom's Club Drop.

I signed up with Club Drop for this month to cover another base for a few domains that I want. I recently missed out on a domain I had placed a snapback on and SnapNames advised looking at more than one drop program.

The names chosen for this test were a combination of interesting, regional and those with snapbacks. Please remember that I am not listing the domains for review my selection technique, simply to provide others with information on Club Drop. I believe the quality of some names helped reveal a worrying feature, you will understand.

Thanks go to a few DNF'ers & SnapNames for help.

Summary of exercise:

Caught: 19 (2 with SnapBacks)
Left available: 2

Key Legend:
CAUGHT = Caught by my account.
LEFT_AVAILABLE = Left available by Club Drop and manually registered later.

eNom Support:
- Generally good, available around the clock via email within a minutes and up to a few hours.
- After a little confusion in the beginning. We worked out that I had the right timezone but the program just wasn't successful for my list.
- The "next day's drop" highlight is wrong at time, so you need to work out the schedule of events in your timezone. The response was that it will be fixed.
- At times, I received an "Update failed. You cannot update you list during the drop". This was 5 hours before the closing time. The response was that it will be reported.
- There were two domains left available and not caught by anyone. The response was that they must have missed them.

If you want to add some information about a domain, maybe you caught it, PM me and I will edit it in.

Be kind.

:)

Edit: Added information provided by SnapNames, a few last minute Snaps and the names caught. Thanks.

Scooter,
Very interesting data.

Having this "snapshot" of grabs for 10 days is good. But, it wil be more revealing over a longer period of time.

We have seen where NW, Snaps or Drop Clubs become better or worse at a particular time for grabbing.

Also, the next variable you would need to analyze will be the potential international interest in the domain name. (ie., auslinks.com)

I wonder if any other DNF members has been keeping track of their "winners and losers"?

Great analysis.

For interest/pity.

For one of the names listed, I also had a SnapBack on. I didn't get it through either program.
