it has been speculated, for some time I know.
Enom definatevely keeps certain domains from dropping.

As we know, there is no definate announcement from enom regarding this issue.
many others due it, so enom, in this sense, has a right to do it.what bothers me , is that there is no clear cut method to get these domains.
they are part of club drop, and I really wonder who keeps them, and until when???

AFAIK they are going to snapnames/netsol , dotster/namewinner approach soon so they might be keeping valuable names for this purpose.

seeker. Interesting claim. Do you have some sample names you'd like to publish here or PM so we can compare notes?

I didn't renew xmastrees.org

It expired Dec 2004.

Enom whois for the name goes to an error page.

External whois still shows it in my name.

ok, I wont be using the better data I have for obvious reasons, just in case they do eventually drop.

lets take a domain that I owned and never renewed.

pefect-girl.net
it expired the 9th of March 2005
its status is locked, not even redemption!!!
they have obviously extended the reg period by 1 year, which is common, but they are keeping it, which is uncommon.
imagine what this does to my trarcking software which thinks that the domain is still owned by me.
There are some other ones which I am following and cant share which are much more remarkable, but this is just one example.

If you think eNom keeps names, wait till you see what Register.com does, I've complained to Internic a couple of times on this, but Register.com still keeps stuffing the lid.

For whois data? No, I rely on whois.sc or one of the paid whois sources when I have a real issue.

I'm interested at looking at other's problem names, cause I've learned a lot from situations I've been in. I like to learn from others also, cause I like to know everything I can about any company like enom that I do business with.

My naive feeling has been that with 6M plus names under their control, they get "stuck" with more names than they want with people not paying for names at the drop, reverse auctions that end with no buyers, etc.

Strictly, I thought it was around 4m names? The rest use their DNS hosting? Please clarify.

Sorry, not much for riddles and time wasters. I was quoting the number on the top line of their page:

Total Domain Names on the eNom Platform: 6,385,417

It doesn't matter to me if its 4M or 6M. Let me rephrase:

With the huge number of names that enom manages or deals with daily....

How embarassing. My dumb cordless keyboard missed yet another letter.

the domain is :
perfect-girl.net, not perfec-girl as I had before.

Enom is having some update problems. Some of the domains which are actually renewed are not showing up as such. This sometimes occurs when a person renews the domain after it has already expired (especially .US/.BIZ domains). Also after I transfer domains away from ENOM they remain in my account. I have contacted them regarding both these issues.

in addition, i see that certain domains are registered to their 'club drop', long before they expired.

domain.x
registered: june, 20+ 2004
expires: june, 20+ 2005

reg/admin/tech/bill contact:
steve brown enom's club drop

repeated emails to steve brown materialize no answer.

what a bunch of sleazebags.
