Estibot $20 per month
vs
DomainTools $15 per month

Has anyone done a comparison of the two?

Thanks

don't mean to be sarcastic and it ain't hating

but i've compared the two and haven't seen the need to pay for either on a month thru month basis.

both offer similar and different data

though what i can get from them at the free level suffices, when i add 'common sense' to the equation. :)

i can see where the "in-depth" services may be worth the fee for a specific investigation, but the systems are designed for one to become dependent/reliant on them.

and for me, that's like paying to stay in a box

I used to get both but rarely used their paid services and cancelled them.

I frequently use Estibot, and have been happy with the tools, the ongoing development, and the customer support. Well worth my money.

Might even be tempted to move from the $20 level to a higher service (and price) level there, but they're only selling it monthly, with no discount for an annual subscription (unlike my current level, where you can save significantly by signing up for a year). Oh well.

I wish they offered the free membership. I would like to try before I sign up for the $20/mo, but never received a reply from my email I sent. Only that they do not offer the free membership right now due to abuse from users registering more than 1 account. :( Oh well

The tool I probably use most on DT is Whois History. Can't seem to find this at Estibot or anywhere else. Can anyone confirm if this is exclusive to DT?

DomainTools seems to be providing lists for free while Estibot does not. Signed up for the $40/month plan for Estibot and just came across the additional tools DT has for free and they seem similar....

Am I missing something?

Well I enjoy Domain Tool's services. Price is fair for the returns. I travel a lot so I use the monthly service. I refuse to ever use estibot. If you are a domainer, you should know what your domain is worth. A pet peeve of mine is when people quote estibot after an offer. I find it insulting and amateurish .

Don't really care for the appraisals much, maybe the only benefit I see to them is that they help narrow down domain lists a bit.
I've been playing around with both and DomainTools provides lists of current, pending delete, and available domains all in one list. You can then break them down by category (page rank, age, DMOZ, Yahoo, etc.) (Free)
Estibot provides lists according to their status (pending delete, redemption period, available, NameJet auctions, GoDaddy auctions, etc) with their appraisals. ($40/month)

Still playing around with them to see what makes Estibot worth the $40 a month versus using DomainTools...

I frequently use the domain history feature so paying the $15/month, but it's pricey for one this one feature..
