I was looking for a specific domain to drop today.
This was an pending delete domain, listed in snapnames and namejet.
Both backorder services didn't have any active bidder(s) so i was ready to get domain right after it dropped.

9:00 am PDT is deadline for namejet backordering and 10:00 am PDT for snapnames, I was looking on both services to be sure no one bids and that is exactly what happened.

So I got prepared to register domain after it drops back to the pool only to find 2 hours later(in the meantime I was trying to register it) that this domain was registered by a snapnames affiliate(namepanther.com).

Do you think this is a taste attempt by snapnames?
Do they(snapnames) put tasted domains in their auctions?

No, probably last minute sniping by a Snapnames user.

Minute or second?
I refreshed continuously to see if it received a bid.
Another thing I noticed was that even though 10:00 am PDT passed domain was still listed as drop in snapnames, 10:04 am PDT I stopped looking at it thinking that it was just their system lag.

i didn't think snapnames shows bids for pending deletes, just partner drops.

Sometimes Snapnames will register a domain, then place it for sale with a BIN.
I witnessed this a couple of weeks ago, no one backordered it, then Snapnames registered it and the listed the domain for $19.
Keep checking Snapnames for that domain, and hopefully you will see the same thing...

Otherwise, it may have been a last minute bidder.

Ok, one more thing when I run a whois I dont see any owner info.
Just nameservers and registrar info.
Registrar belongs to snapnames farm thats why I concluded that domain is captured by snapnames.
