Someone has asked me to give them Fabs.org and I am in two minds. Do you think I'd be better off trying to sell it for a profit, or is it unlikely to sell for a significant value?

If it were me it would come down to who wanted it....how needy they were...etc. If it were something like the battered womens center I will hand it over gladly, if it were an .org like PETA...well...they would not be so lucky.

Do you like the organization that asked you for it?

It is the Foundation for the Advancement of Blount County Schools (which means I think they should just go and buy fabcs.org instead!) and they raise money for the school system in Blount County, TN, wherever that is :). I am a reasonably charitable person, but I am kind of ambivalent about this particular organisation. I'm thinking of asking $100 for it, just struggling a bit with my conscience on the one hand, and with the idea that I could miss out on a load of dollars on the other hand.

I agree with cheapbuying that it's a good name.

I don't quite agree with the suggested price though.

The domain is currently yours, revsorg, and I wouldn't let them get to your conscience.

They have other alternatives, e.g. as you suggest, fabcs.org which is more appropriate - but it doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it!

Personally, I would want to sell a name of this quality for $500 if possible, but would probably drop to $300 if necessary, and maybe even as low as $150 to $200 to get that cash and buy a few more domains.

I reckon $150 would be a bargain. If they don't want to pay that much, I think someone will eventually.

Good luck and don't let your conscience be too hard on you.

Is it possible to take a charity contribution tax deduction for domain donation? If so how do you determine the value and convince it to IRS?
