I just purchased GreatSites.com

I would love to hear what you think of the name and what you would do with it if you owned it.

Thanks,
Ken

/me likes ALOT

It sounds like one of those name that just... sound right

one option is developing it into "the top 100" links of the best webpages for each category etc.

another is: the great sites of the world, eg: pyramids etc.

It is also a PERFECT name for a webdesign company (Like I want to start)

I don't see much value - just kidding :D

Great name, especially as a secondary traffic-catcher for a creative company.

Like similar names - BigSites, CoolSites, GiantSites, SpeedySites, TopSites, etc - there may not be a lot of value in the name alone - but as a 'brand' it has excellent potential if developed. I really like it. :)

It's funny you mentioned TopSites. TopSites is a very common traffic building program and must get a ton of type ins. Before I made the offer on GreatSites, I tried to buy TopSites to go with my TopNames.com...I offered a lot for the name, but it was not for sale.

GreatSites seems like a no-brainer for a portal site linking great websites. Every web surfer is a potential repeat visitor...not a niche site, but a very general site that reaches children and adults alike.

I agree. Fantastic portal name - and for ALL types of sites and visitors. Build it! :D

You should try to sell this one to Network Solutions. They've rebranded their ImageCafe.com website builder "VerisignWebsites.com" which is an absolutely horrible name. Sales were down 80% when last I checked. They're working on repairing the damage, but they need to re-release the product and rebrand the whole thing.

They're located in Herndon Virginia. I'd put a call in and ask for "Someone who handles marketing for the Verisign Websites" product. They're a little snobby about domain speculation so it might not go well, but it's worth a try.

At the very least, I know they're always trying to come up with good vanity names for their direct marketing. The last one I remember was "GetYour5PageWebsiteToday.com" or something stupid like that. What makes it worse is that they used names like that in television commercials and radio. Considering how much they waste in marketing promoting URLs that dont work, I think paying you 5 figures for your name would be quite worth it to them.

If you approach NSI. Make sure you stick it to them without any lube. I hate that company with a passion!

Also if it's regged through them? (which I doubt) they may just take it if they want it!

Personally, I avoid doing business with them.

Cheers!

It's a good name Ken with a nice sound to it! I it could be worth at least $2k-$3k for an end-user.

Good luck with it!
