Fly.com $2M ? I think to the end user its possible but reseller, no way.

FLY.COM Offer Description
"Fly.com is a profitable online affiliate travel business generating in excess of $400-600K gross travel bookings per year and attracting 30-45K unique website visits per month on a consistent monthly basis. High 15-20% conversions. Source: Google Analytics, Webalizer internal stats."

$400-600K very good profit for a small side

The keywords are "gross travel bookings". I still agree the name is great, but for a reseller this would be a big long term investment.

Yes agreed, good point above. 600K in air booking translate to on average 6K transactions with commissions at about $10 to $15 per travel transaction, you are talking 60 to 75K max revenue less any expenses.

A little surprised by people saying it's worth 5m and 10m.

I think this was a very expensive purchase in 1999 and a very expensive purchase today for 1.5m.

Assuming this auction being simply resellers it won't hit reserve. (even if it comes close - that's not a genuine value)

If you're right - and, lets take the $75k higher figure pa in revenue - then, at a $2m sales reserve asking price for the domain, the owner is looking for 26.5 x annual revenue...!!...About double what is the norm.

Or, looked at another way....That revenue is a 3.75% pa return on capital invested.....That's very low - I can get 8.4% ROI just leaving the money in the bank...!!

Without a serious end user buyer, it just doesn't stack up.....And, the market constuencies for this name are all struggling in today's market economy...

Like I said...Doubt if it'll get anywhere near the asking price...
