I'm an experienced domain portfolio manager, managing for years hundred of domains (for a company). I think I did almost everything in this area: from reshuffling and optimizing the portfolio of registrars, installing registry locks, brand protection (reviewing block list, disputing names, name coverage, TMCH and acquiring a domain during sunrise period), domain reputation, consolidate, web 3 domains...
For some time, I did wonder if domain portfolio manager was a real position (apart from working for ICANN, registries, resellers or registrars).
I'm speaking about an expertise position (hence valued as such).
I think, it's probably possible to get contracting in this area (portfolio optimization, assessing security and/or brand protection), but I doubt companies would externalize management of their critical domain names (risk giving the keys to a total stranger) + there's no so much companies that can justify for a full time need for this position.
So I would like to know your opinion, is Domain Name Portfolio Manager actually a real and viable position/career path, or too niche?
