FOODCHART.NET

Need your opinion, please.
Value?

Honestly I saw this one on drop auction a week or so ago and I thought about getting it. I guess you could build it into a site with the main food groups. But considering the .com is parked I don't see it as being worth much so I passed on it even at the $19 opening bid.

It actually makes sense, and I generally hate .nets. Someone making a site on FoodChart.net in all likelihood isn't trying to start a full time business, and if that is the case it is less of a nightmare to bleed traffic to the dotcom.

My guess is that this is the type of site that would only be found by way of search engines, as a sort of side project, and maybe with a few affiliate links added (weight loss affiliate might work). If it is a low effort site like that then the name fits fine.

But that doesn't make the name worth much. Twenty bucks sounds about right. Fifty bucks sounds reasonable enough. But you wouldn't be guaranteed to be able to sell this for anything if you posted it here, and that is the real test. The other problem is that the chances are slim that anyone would ever offer you real money for the name (as a stand alone name). People often confuse name values and business values. If you somehow created a neat little sight and eventually sold it for 1K, that doesn't make the name worth 1K.

If someone offered it to me for free I wouldn't take it, but if you have a plan for it, then it is worth a pair of pants or a tank of gas.

Something makes me feel this isn't a reg fee name... But it isn't much valuable either, say $45-140. Make it more valuable by developing it.
