Well ... I've become victim to the latest fad ... forums

I am embarking on setting one up for a topic area that I have some interest in and plan on using vBulletin.

I would appreciate any tips, warnings, possible revenue streams, etc on running a forum - hopefully a profitable one (at least covering it's costs).
