When registering a domain or setting up a subdomain, what do you think is the best option?

forum.*.com
forums.*.com

I ask because I have noticed that not one way clearly dominates the trend. There's a big mix of big sites, each with their own preference .... what is the general vote here?

From what I have seen, if the name is a type-in, the singular typically gets more hits. This is of course not true 100% of the time.

Bottom line is if it is a nice name, singular or plural does not bother me. If both versions are available, I will usually take the singular over the plural. If it is a good name, I get both. I bought a few names last week where I got both versions.
