Geaney.com acquires SS.com for $1.25 million

In jewelry making we refer to sterling silver as SS. A clean break away brand is possible with this domain, but now... every minute this tool uses it as a Nazi site, another chunk of branding potential goes flying out the window. This guy has all his chips on a losing hound right now.

Seraphim,

All branding ability was lost during the Nazi regime 6 decades ago. German conglomerate IG Farben murdered millions of enough people to do away with that brand name.

ROFL
Geaney's $2.50 'site' is now proclaiming they have turned down a $3million offer

Don't visit, we don't want to give 'it' traffic. Take my word

DUDE! That's not all it says! I quote:

Geaney.com declines offer for US$3 million for SS.com

Does anyone know who the **** is behind smartsearch.com?

They said they wanted to strike an alliance with me and told me if I didn't come to the party they were going to write libel about me on the Internet.

All I can say ****heads is bring it on.

I am SS.com and if you want to **** with me you can also **** with my buddies at the World Internet Authority when they take over control of this Internet domain game.

All I can say is **** off cunts and let me close this deal.

Seraphim,

Awe yes, "IF Farben", the same fine people that brought you the holocaust and Bayer Aspirin. Kinda like Mitsubishi, the same fine people that brought you Harbor and Zero Bombers.

SS can survive just fine in the right hands and is not necessarily "permanantly tainted." Last check Germans and Japanese were our allies. Supposing ss.com weren't involved in this BS, by isolating the domain ss.com, wouldn't one be equally guilty of stereotyping or "domain profiling" or "selective domaining" or heck, "domain racisim"?

Please, ss.com has enough branding potential to overcome any negative connotation from the Holocaust or the current village idiot using the name irresponsibly.

He logged in yesterday and replied to the initial sales thread. This thread had 78 replies at the time. He's had a chance to reply.

At the time he replied in the initial sales thread this thread had 45 replies, and no accusations had been made towards the seller.
If I had a 7-figure deal pending, I would be very careful what to say too, until it clears.
I wouldn't be happy about what the buyer had done, but would do whatever possible to get the deal through. (Especially since what the buyer had done would lower the value of the domain considerably.)
I would not comment on the sale until the transaction is finished, and nothing in the information posted so far has pointed towards the seller being guilty of anything.
You claimed in post #148 that the whois just changed to DN Capital, as if that was the change in ownership, implying that it wasn't, but that whois change was already back in December, not connected to this sale, so I don't know how you can use that as some kind of proof calling the sale a hoax, as you did.
After that everybody seemed to jump the bandwagon, but I still haven't seen one single piece of information pointing towards the seller being behind all this.

HE'S CHANGED THE LAST PRESS RELEASE:

Geaney.com tells smartsearch.com to stick their deal of US$3 million for SS.com up their ****ing ***.

Does anyone know who the **** is behind smartsearch.com because they are using a private whois?

I don't even own this domain yet and they wanted to strike an alliance with me and told me if I didn't come to the party they were going to write libel about me on the Internet.

All I can say ****heads is bring it on.

I will own SS.com and if you want to **** with me you can also **** with my buddies at W.I.N.N.A when they take over control of this Internet domain game.

All I can say is **** off cunts and let me close this deal.

And if any of you want to send any more death threats make sure you in them you write that you promise to kill me slowly or that you will will skin me alive, otherwise **** off.

You're wrong with regard to it's branding potential, and the burn down value of this domain proves that. You're also forgetting the larger marketing world outside of the US and Europe. Marketing demographics, and context could make a brand possible with it, even in the US [think safe context acronyms]. While it's certainly unlikely you'll find an "SS" leather boot brand using it, who's to say it couldn't be used for "Satoki Sushi Brand" in Tokyo?

I wouldn't buy the domain myself, but I live 2 hours away from Oświęcim, and hardly need a reminder of it's negative association. Context and location are relative here, and that's the strength of a great dual letter domain, it isn't bound to one market niche or geographic location.

No, it's a Nazi term, and even if it's a 2 letter .com, it finally has to be set to rest.

Didn't ZZ Top sue Marvel Comics over their refusal to stop using the phrase "zzzzzz..."?

omg
this guy needs committing

best thing is , let him waste his money on this, then if people take screenshots of any pages he has of inciting racial hatred or anything, enmasse we all report this biatch to the authorities and you never know, his domain may get took off him?? stranger things have happened, then its just added to uncle sams inventory list

if its regged at nodaddy then its not safe for him lol, they never think about domain owners first, they will just take the domain out.

It's been private since December 2005, at which time it appears it might have changed owners. At least the registrar changed from eNom to Moniker at that time.
The site itself appears to be parked at TrafficZ. (?)

Keyword "heavy fine". Just say NO to authorities seizing generic domains! :ok:

Unless I am mistaken, there is no way the owner of this domain given it's content would be allowed to visit Germany, Israel, or Austria...? I would think there are serious legal implications to what he's doing.

Seraphim,

F**k you!

Really surprised you're fighting over this one. Do you realize over 70 MILLION ALLIES and their families and children gave their lives for this?

My family and friends fought 2 World Wars and sacrificed their lives at places like Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima for our rights. Where the hell were you???

No sympathy here,

SoCalBoy

I had relatives that died in World War II, one of which was in a concentration camp in Austria. So I'm not sure what your problem is you POS.

I dont think we need to discuss the buyers intent anymore, I feel bad for the seller, if it doesnt close it needs to be dealt with imo.

On a side note lets no swear and ruin the thread with name calling. Enough. Drop it .

I can't wait for the seller to pop in and make a statement in due time.
