hi, long time no see, boys and girls :)

I have been hibernating from domaining for a while. Now I have a little bit of spare time, I would like to know what is the general value of a geo domain (.com )?

For example, a place like Australia.
e.g. wollongong.com

it's a reasonable size city in Australia, not super famous worldwide, but one of the larger cities here.

What would be the resell value in domains like this?

thanks

Welcome again! :)
Most depends on population...how many peoples live there?

population is 1,170,023 with a density of 175/km squared.

It is a province of a country and the capital of the province also carries the same name.

Wollongong, New South Wales - Population: 263,535 - the 3rd largest city in the state of New South Wales, Australia, after Sydney and Newcastle.

Reseller value for the domainers outside of Australia is close to few thousand dollars (mid x,xxx max) these days. IMO. If you find someone (reseller) interested locally - I would say very low xx,xxx.

BUT, I WOULD DEVELOP IT.

Perth .com which doesn't really compare on population and length sold for 200k earlier this year.

You should really develop it.

thanks for the opinions. The domain I am looking at is actually not Wollongong. It is a bigger city than Wollongong, but I get your point on the general value of Geo domains. It seems it will take a "chicago.com" or "atlanta.com" to attract significant value ><

Important that the extension matches the location of the GEO in this case.

EG wollongong.com.au would be worth a lot more than wollongong.com

Exceptions perhaps for certain 'international' cities with massive overseas tourist numbers... eg Sydney possibly.
