It says in the advertisement that he built a mortgage company on the site in 1983 - pictures are cool - I was in 3rd grade in 1983

Dont know why whois only dates to 1993

I thought it went cheap too

I think is not wise to sell such domain on Ebay. Unless something wrong with the domain (stolen etc.)

So its agreed, the domain went cheap, correct?

Symbolics.com was the first .com to be registered - March 15, 1985
There is no way that he had an online business in 1983. BBS's don't count as web presence.

Checked the numbers, not that cheap, probably no or little traffic.

I wouldn't consider that cheap... it's an old name but, aside from that, what are the practical acronyms/usage of that name... pronouncability? I think everyone is just happy that it sold at that price on Ebay.

its pronounceable, which is a huge plus. Pronounceables go for much more than regular names. I think this could've reached much higher here

This makes me sure of one thing: the best place to sell LLL.coms is DNF. Even Traffic, etc. are bad: PPX.com sold for a little over 5k at the last one.

its pronounceable
Well it pronounces same as jizz methink, which is HUGE minus...its practially UNMARKETABLE, imho

Well, to me the G in this one is pronounced the way its in Goal, not as in George

Oh you are right - same like GIZMO, my mind is really DIRTY

splat...good name for an internext auction

it's the acid man :hippie:

umm no...or umm yeah..right in her eye! ;) ouch!

Very nice price for the buyer, I think this should have gone for double at least. The Gizmo element could have made it very valuable for an end user... think Gizmodo. Plus it's just a solid and pronouncable 3 letter name in it's own right.
