What are some good hosting sites out there with some reasonable plans? I will soon be wanting to register my own domain name, and am interested in the competition out there. Any help would be appreciated.

Try here.

Make sure you don't register your domain with your webhost, you will have more control over your domain if you register it elsewhere, at some registrar...

I use Dreamhost myself, and have been satisfied. They also have an affiliate program; I've already made more than enough to pay for my next year's hosting fees that way.
