I've already gotten a quote from my current host on this but seeing if there is cheaper around..

I'm looking for..

- Good host with awesome uptime
- No resellers
- Great support (Fast email support & ICQ would be good too).
- Fast connections & no speed capping
- No cogent bandwidth

As for bandwidth, I'm looking for a price for about 50TB/month .. I know a TB is a lot so I gather most around here probably won't have experience with per/TB pricing, but if anyone does it would be helpful.

Just FYI.... my current host has quoted me around $200/TB if I was buying 75TB/month but I have recently cut it down to 50TB/month.

Can this be had for cheaper whilst keeping a good quality host? Maybe I should be asking this question @ WHT?

Please only recommend hosts you have experience with & don't recommend yourself.

you're spending $10,000+ per month on hosting? even dedicated server with cpu and 1TB cost only about $99 per month.

No, not yet.. just looking around for quotes right now for a possible future project & if I can cut down the per/TB price from $200/TB it would save a lot of money; so I'm just looking around for quotes right now of how much TB I think I would be using once the site is running for a while so I can do some forecasting.

Quite a few places now claim 1TB for under $100. I can give you a list of at least six if you are really interested. Most though do not let you go over the limit or offer larger packges, which to me means they are overselling and do not really expect most to use the bandwidth. ctn1 even offers 2000GB for$50.

Hmmm... don't like the sounds of that. I'd rather pay for a quality "serious" host than a "get what you pay for" type host.

Get your self a dedicated server with a private, dedicated 10mbps switch port which will come standard with unlimited data transfer... Of course you can further negotiate and have the cap increased... That will cost you under $1,000 at some decent places!

When I was talking to him he said that 75TB is 240mbps.... earlier he mentioned he could do 10mbps for $699.

If bandwidth is an issue, but speed not so much, and assuming you have a DSL connection or higher, why not have someone setup a server for you at your home/office, which would in the long term be much cheaper?

I know it has down sides to it, but also advantages.
Even If you pay for a remote admin to manage your server, it comes out cheaper.

It all depends on your needs

Nice idea but speed is important too... would be even worse since I'm located in Australia & my target audience would be mainly the US etc etc (same as any site).

50TB/month is enormous! It's actually unbelievable... what do you do?

I have a 250GB / month account and that cost only $1,060 per year.

The largest bandwidth account this "file servering" company offers is 15TB/month @ $50,000 per year (or $4,400 per month) -- this is just the cost of bandwidth -- hosting is extra: it ranges from 1GB @ $5/month to 15TB for $15,000 per year.

Catch One: it is basically just hosting for large files! So you also need another host somewhere else for your website, which they do not offer.

Catch Two: They do server maintenance every week for about an hour, max 2 -- so the files you host with them are inaccessible during this time!

Otherwise they are very reliable and their proprietary software to manage your account is excellent.
