This guide is for everyone , from newbies who are getting in the domain field
to the ones who are well experienced.

I had compiled this and will be updated on weekly basis.

There are a lot of threads and i get loads of pms so just to make it easier, would be cool if this thread could be strucked so it could help all kind of domainers out here.

Q1 : How to push a name fron enom to an another enom user?

Answer: Its a very simple process.
You click on each domain within your domain management section :

http://www.enom.com/domains/DomainManager.asp

and click on this :
"Push/Move this domain into a different eNom account"

Q2: How much does it charges to transfer a name?

Answer: Many registrars (only if you are transfering on the same company
account to the other account do not charge any money. They offer a free push.
But if you are transfering the name from some company like godaddy to namepush
it costs 8.88 $. Thats an normal fee and that will include another 1 year renewal.


Q3: If a name is expiring today , how many more days will it require for people to register it?

Answer: The domain will be to the old owner for 30-40 days and if he still doesnt registers
at that certain amount of days, then it will be available for other people.

Q4: What is the most popular site to sell the names at?

Answer: There are many ways to sell names like on forums (these ones dnforum.com) or on a site like (sedo.com).

Q5: What software to use to check bulk domains for registration?

Answer: There is an free software from www.Dnaz.net for that purpose.

Q6: What is WLS?

Answer: WLS is known as wait listing service purposed by ICANN to handle
expiring domain names. This will allow the next people to register that name
which is pending delete or is expired.

Q7: Can I change registrars after registering a name?

Answer: Yes, You can change the registrar but that will ofcourse cost some additional fee.
The new ICCAN Rules say that you can transfer it after 60 days you have registered.

But for other sites like domainsite and registerfly, you can transfer the name with the existing
domain fee which will include one year renewal too.

Q8: Name and Illustrate Domain status catergories.

Answer: There are 5 domain status catergories:

1. Active: Domain enjoys good standing between its owner and the registrar of record.

2. Registrar Lock: Domain enjoys good standing too but the owner has used the
lock feature so no transfer request can be completed unless its unlocked.
Very good step indeed.

3. Registrar Hold: The domain has expired. Its waiting to be renewed.
During the period 35-40 days after the expiry date the domain is in the owners account.

4. Redemption Period: Domain is expired and has gonethrough its hold period.
The owner did not renew it.

5. Pending delete: The domain is waiting to get deleted and waiting to get unregistered again.
Its expired and has gone through the hold period. During the period, 6 days , no one may renew the domain.
Its set to delete and will become to public services.

Q9 : What is SnapNames?

Answer: SnapNames is a subscription based domain name service which gets hold of expired names.
When a name is is deleted from the registry and becomes available for registration, Snapnames automatically
submits a registrar request.

Q10 : What is WHOIS?

Answer: Whois is when it shows al info about the guy who registered the domain.
His information is to the public.

Q11: What is ICANN?

Answer: ICANN is the new profit corporation that is assuming responsibility for Internet technical functions.

Q12: Will i face legal issues if i registered some companany name?

Answer: If the company has trademark, then yes you will face court and legal problems.

Q13: How to do a search for domain names which are available to register?

do a search at any registrar.

Q18: Which are the Drop Catchers?

Answer: I know of around 7 Drop Catchers.

Q19: What does .fr means?
Answer: .fr stands for france.

Q20 : How to earn some income from domain names which are just sitting around?
Answer: Park them on Sedo or Fabulous.

Huh? Good stuff for newbies and I'm glad you posted it for them, but I don't understand why would you think experienced domainers don't know all of this...
