HeavyMetal.net - Any metal heads out there care to share their wisdom on this domain's value? Over 2.2 million monthly searches on Google for "heavy metal". Thanks in advance.

For what its worth.....

comparable sales:

HeavyMetal.de - Sold for $4058 in Sept. 2004

HeavyMetal.info - Sold for $917 in Aug. 2004

English termed .de sold for $4,058?? I'm missing something... :)

It's a very nice domains it could be used either for the musical genre or for the anime film, Heavy Metal.

I think now you could get more than what the .de sold for back in 2004.

5 year old data though....

Nice name, I've been in that auction :P

IMO your paid price was near the upper limit, reseller-wise. Good luck with the domain.

Easy enough to develop if I have to. Any more opinions out there?

Should get good SE traffic when developed. May as well put up a forum, a single band can have a big forum so the genre should do well, have subforums for the major bands, types of metal, tour dates.

Even premium one word nets rarely go over $10K so reseller just under $10K

I agree it would be great for a forum site (with an mp3/cd & related merchandise store on it) and my guess is anywhere from $5,000 up.

Heavy Metal is huge in Europe and I think they use the english term for it there (more specific and less likely to be confused with describing something like a chunk of lead).

Before I buy/bid on any domain, I take into consideration the following:

Is the domain a .com? If not, is the .com developed? If it is, I am willing to pay less for the other TLD's.

I've been a fan of heavy metal (music) and Heavy Metal (comic/fantasy mag) for years. In this case, the .com is taken by the famous magazine. Did I mention I have all issues from #1 onwards? :D

I think you overpaid at NJ, unless you meant to develop it - presumably into a network for heavy metal music fans. At any rate, it's a nice pair of keywords related to a not-so-popular anymore music genre.

HI

Great name and well worth $10k or more... it is something you should develop and keep for long term.. as you will make much more money from it and get more later down the road.

Good luck
Tom

I would say in the .net its mid x,xxx , maybe $5K
