Well, I've been looking at the DN world from the sidelines for long enough. Hopefully I'm not too late...

I'm actually from the US but I've been in Japan for over 10 years so it's my home.

Thanks for having me here!

"Irrashaimase" or at least something to that effect. Let's see if I can find some good IDN stuff, sounds nice and new.

Welcome Jay, good to have more domainers here from Japan.
You seeing any ads around on the subways or print featuring Japanese IDN domains?

Welcome Jay.

What part of Japan do you live?
I lived in Tokyo (Sancha) for over 3 years before

Yoroshiku ne
I'm way up north in Misawa. Got here by way of the US Air Force, just stayed after I finished with the AF.

Nope, haven't really noticed much IDN in adverts, but I'll keep my eyes open for it now.

OK, I found some available IDN's but not sure if they will be worthwhile, My wife's common family name is available in .com and .net, and my son's first name, single Kanji .net is available. Might take a stab at them, so is Moniker the way to go?

Moniker is pretty good, I think. I use Dynadot exclusively. Great control panel for working with domains (changing settings, etc), plus a 5-day drop window if you decide you don't want ot keep the domain (you get your reg fee back as a credit to use on another reg. Also, they have nice bulk pricing rates, but you have to spend a certain amount (over $2,000 I think) in a year to qualify for the bulk rates.

Either way, they're worth every penny, IMO.

Good luck!

Well thanks for all the welcomes and information.

I'll start making some posts in some more places than just here now.
