As the mortgage industry comes full circle, people are forced to refi their current loans into a better product. So I do feel that the domain has value, but the question is how much? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Never heard of the term 'refi' in the uk so no value over this side of the pond i'm afraid!

its a popular term in the US, but do you want to refinance your mortgage via your cellphone.?..not gonna happen IMO...I think I own refiloans.org and I think .org makes more sense for loans than for .mobi , and I would take low $xxx offers (this is not a sales offer)..so I cant see the mobi being worth more than $xx

That may be true today, but the next internet is the .mobi ext. Even if someone were to visit any site that is associated with loans they are not going to complete the transaction via the web. They will end up contacting a real person via phone. I think that it does have merit if marketed correctly. If what you are saying is true then loans.mobi has no value either?

I think loans.mobi has some value because its a wide field and a better keyword, the value for lonas.mobi also comes from the hype..the question what this might be worth in the long run is very different...and contrary to most people I actually differentiate between the success and advancement of mobile devices, and I agree like you say they are going to be successful, and the success of a tld that doesnt have an advantage over any other tld, its just a PR thing, I could use a .info for all it matters for my mobile site, I dont see a need for an additional tld .. I will expect the .com sites to detect which device is accessing the site and display the appropriate data, no need for .mobi, sure right now the market is hot, but I think it will be just a second .TV tld, and I think 5 years from now the prices will be very similar to .tvs

What your forgetting domainah is, no-one has much luck finding sites that are mobile compatible by using the .com ext, your arguement is correct, but if the general public want a proper and compatible mobile site their best bet is .mobi and thats that, no arguement. I could go on all day with the advantages/disadvantages but it all boils down to the unrealiable .com or the new .mobi championed as completely mobile browser compatible! May take some time to establish a good network and public awareness, but like it or not .mobi is here to stay and has some massive backing!

massive backing? because MS and such say so? what do you think they should say if some Mobi PR firm is asking them if their applications are gonna be mobile device compatible? ...its easy to say because it doesnt cost them anything to say .mobi is a good idea because .mobi is not a new technology but just a tld... I think sometimes we as domainers are a little off about how popular .mobi really is...99% of the people havent even heard of it..people will stick to .com.. but I respect your opinion and vision and I think simply time is gonna be the judge on how this thing plays out...best of luck

I think that you are right about .mobi to a point, but how is anyone going to rectify a standard . com site to format correctly to a mobile device. If they do figure out how to differentiate from a computer to a mobile device how will it correct when you view several pages on the same site. Sounds like too much programming work to me. If that theory does prove successful, then the cost of maintaining a site will go up a whole lot and shut out smaller players.

it works for parking pages already at sedo..not more work than the creating a regular mobi site...programming is minimal..no big cost involved..and not only that..mobile devices like everyone says are going to advance, so soon they might be able to read regular websites anyway, which would reduce the need for mobis further
