Here and there I pick up a high traffic name that would better off be an independent site with a host. Is there a place where one could host a site/domain for free, or a number of sites/domains for real cheap in order to carry on the search engine links? Any infor iwll be appreciated.

There are hosts out there where you can host & administrate unlimited domains within your space alottment for next to nothing. I use one for $20/month, 1 gig of space, unlimited domains, email, etc.

Tech support can be a little slow, but they are there and can usually fix any problems within a day.

Whats the benefit of a dedicated server?

downside is you are responsible for admin and setup of everything too

Dedicated server is not related with your SE placement.
