Hi All,

I was wondering... how can I go about contacting someone by email regarding a name I think they would be interested in... without being accused of spamming them?

For example, I’d like to take LogoStreet.com and contact about twenty webmasters who run a logo site, and see if they would like the name in addition too or to replace their existing name.

How can I write to them offering them the name without them getting upset at an uninvited email?

Thanks for any responses to this. :)

Cheers,

Not a yes or no answer. As long as you don't come off as a squatter (registering names you have no rights to that someone else does), you should be okay. You are really not a spammer if the number of emails you sent is small, maybe less than 10 addressees per email. If you target the name to a potential user, it is more often accepted than untargeted mailings.

I have successfully done it, and:
a) Sold a few
b) Been told where to go a few times (and called a few choice names).
c) Never been reported as a spammer (I also never used a list)

Personally, I think having a parked for sale page is a lot safer from a potential dispute position. You are also in a better price negotiation position if they come to you first.
