At 5:00 p.m. a domain was available so initiated reg. with 1and1. After spending 5 hours building a mini-site I go to check the registration and it's reg'd and parked by Moniker. Is 5 hours too long for a registration?

Domain registrations are instant. If you registered it thru 1and1 and it is now registered and parked by Moniker, I doubt you got the domain. Did you try and do a whois lookup on the domain to see if it has been registered by someone else.

I would also not use 1and1 for domain registrations. Do a search and you will see why. Or just take this situation for instance.

Yep, I ran the name thru domaintools...it was available so I went to 1and1 and "congratulations..." so I registered it or so I thought and then they say that Moniker initiated reg. before me. Is that possible? Or was it an inside job?

What time was your order placed compared to the registration time in the whois info?

What is the domain?

I have seen other instances where someone registers a domain at 1and1 and it then gets registered elsewhere before the name is actually registered thru them.

Record created on: 2008-11-11 21:25:31.0
Database last updated on: 2008-11-11 21:22:01.92

It's mortgagemodificationplan.com

I better not be charged for it. I'll let you know though.

I've not had problems with 1and1 until this time. Like I said, I ordered the name at 5:00 p.m. -- it appears that they got it registered at 9:25.
