Hi,

I want to buy a high profile domain from some one who is earning significant revenue a on this domain through domainsponsor.com. What is the industry standard of revenue I need to purchase? 3-5 years of revenue?

This may not be the correct category for this post, but after 10 minutes of looking, I couldn't find a better one.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If the domain is a possble TM issue about 1 year or less revenue
If the domain is a generic, the reseller price would be about 2-2.5 years of rev. End user about 4-5.

This is just my opinion, many others will vary.

You can also tell by what the seller asks for how motivated they are to sell.

The multiples differ, depending on the name. I have seen multiples of 3-10 years revenue, depending on the quality of the name/traffic...

3-5 years is probably the norm.

You also need to factor in the development potential of the domain as well as it's generic or non generic nature - earnings are only one of many factors to a domain's value.

This is impossible to say without seeing the name.

My philosophy is this. I do not sell names on a multiplier of current revenue "in most cases". I have never purchased a domain with the sole intention of doing the exact same thing the current owner is doing with the domain. I will purchase a name with a plan in mind to make it successful or atleast with the notion that it can be successful if and when I get around to working on it. Most of the "large" sales you see reported are not at all based on a current revenue multiplier unless they are using 10 to 15x current yearly revenue. These sales are based mainly on the value the buyer has placed on the domain for his/her purposes in there plan for making it successful. Traffic stats are usually more of factor in these larger sales than current owner revenues.

I think that this is may be applied if the domain is making thousands of dollars per month cuz 2-3 years would be around xx,xxx$ or more and no many people has that mcuh of money

but if it is generic and .com and earn about 10$ per month or less I think you have to go higher may be more than 5 years revenue or more

only typos that are calculated by revenue stats

and I saw generics go for 99 X years of revenue

it merely depends on the name at the end
