for me the name lends itself to a funny video siye, jokes etc

Brilliant name. It just "howls" for social networking / self-promotion development treatment. It has all the "coolness" for web 2.0 without a stupid name.
I'd certainly put it on the don't sell until developed list. Much good luck in building it.
