IMO generally a slowdown but some names are still selling well. Last week (well, the week before) we saw 5 six-figure sales.

i'm not trying to brag here, but ...

as long as ppc rev holds steady, i don't too much notice slow periods.

though my last sale was in the early part of May, i still get several offers a month on Sedo.

it's just up to me to sell or hold.

so far this month, at least 4-5 offers on Sedo, two of them for the same domain and one $$$ offer for a hand-regged name i got last year.

during the past 4 weeks, i have bought at least 3 domains on the forums from other resellers.

additionally, i've been backordering like crazy

so i don't see any slowdowns

My 2 cents... Well... the prices are still on top for good quality generic names or lll.com for example but the demand is slightly slower compare to the beginning of 2008. It'll be picking back up by September/October for sure. I'm closing two mid xx,xxx deals the time we speak and wish you guys all the best as well!

Well, I think it is really slow as far as volume....and I think investors are looking for major deals...so it can really be as slow or fast as you want it to be.

That being said...this month I have closed a high xx,xxx, a middling xx,xxx, and a high x,xxx ...mainly to fund another project...I will most likely have sellers remorse though as I think I let the high xx,xxx go too cheap.

I have also been buying quite a bit in the low to mid x,xxx range and have been getting some great deals IMO. I think it is really the time to buy. This buying window may not be open very long though.

Afternic reported their sales are up in first quarter.

Dnjournal reported slightly higher sales figures year over year.

The .CA market has had record sale after record sale this year.

LLL.com are rising in price.

Verisign quarterly report is showing growth, especially in country code registrations.

I really get the sense that the domain market is picking up, as if some kind of desperation is starting to sink in - especially for quality domains.

The domain market was growing with $38 million in sales in the first quarter of 2008. From the DNJournal: “A total of $38,029,543 in domain sales were reported in 1Q-2008, a spectacular 78% jump over the $21,253,105 reported in the first quarter of 2007 - before the current dislocations in the general - before the current dislocations in the general economy started appearing. 1Q-2008 was also 12% better than the $34,089,484 registered in the fourth quarter of 2007.”

One stock on the market can easily be 38 million. Thats really a small number and could grow to billions of dollars. The oil market and other commodities trade in the billions of dollars a day. One commerical realestate property can easily be many times $38 million dollars.

People may look for other places than the stockmarket and realestate to invest. Domains are a hot market and may be a place investors look at.

I have noticed that the LLLL.com hype bubble has started to burst and generally the market is slightly slower than usual. I'm not complaining though, as last month (May) was my best domaining month ever profit-wise.

No worries though, as I see that LLL.com, premium/pronounceable LLLL.com's and dictionary domains sell for higher values than ever before.

I also think that (as Andrew says), we will see even bigger purchases and more aggressive bidding in the months and years to come, as more and more investors tend to seek fortune in the domain market. Domaining is still a very young business trend and I am pretty sure that this is only the beginning..

Think of it as an economic cycle... it goes up and down. When it goes down, you can pick up bargains... when it goes up, you can profit from sales. But overall, the trend is still upward as we can see more higher and higher domain sales reported everyday.

volume of sales will always be up and down

but i think the higher closing prices are due to the fact that more domainers are realizing the value of their names.
