How often do you say "yahoo" or refer to someone as one , as in "that guy is a yahoo"? Would you argue its worthless too? I've actually said groovy (not a normal part of my lexicon), but I dont recall the last time I said Yahoo unless it was referring to the web site. FYI, "yahoo" exited popular usage shortly after the publication of Gulliver's Travels (c. 1726)

By the way, isnt the point of an appraisal to have predictive value of the selling price or of offers submitted for the domain? If so, why anyone would take offense to being informed that other methods are more accurate, is beyond me.

I will then say "put your money where your mouth is" and hope to see you on next week's DNJournal :-D

If you can't take objective criticism over a domain appraisal from others in the industry, you might as well stick to "professional appraisals" and frame those useless certificates.
Useless? All of the sales Ive done were well above the appraised "low range" number and within 30% of the "high" number.

I think you can see why I have the perspective I do, now, right?

Guys... I'm really interested in the marketability of the name and ideas for business usage, not $ values.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have $$, $$$, and even $$,$$$ appraisals, but the real value here comes from the ideas that are posted for usage. Those I can convert into cash through development.

So, lets steer this groovy thread back to Groovy.tv.

Thanks.

If I owned this name and wanted to develop it, I think it would be great for a "reviews and sneak peeks" site for television shows. Discussion forums, fan site, etc. There are already plenty of mega-sites that do this, like IMDB, but there is still room to have a tv-only site with high quality content and a highly useable format.
One of the trends that has gotten people more interested in television is reality programming. The fans of reality TV are really engaged. Another encouraging trend is the leapfrogging that cable has done to the broadcast networks. Their fans are very engaged as well....maybe start with a Focus on these kinds of viewers and offer them a high quality experience, and you would probably find that you are able to eventually earn higher than average revenues per user with traditional advertising than the mega players, with their millions of transitory visitors.

Groovy.TV is a great name. I'm a big fan of .TV names (any domainer who thinks that .TV is only useful as a Tuvalu country code domain is missing out!) as I have had some success in developing and trading .TV names.

I would set the lowball to $1200 for Groovy.TV and go from there. Of course, development would increase the value consierably.

As always, IMO.
