I frequently visit a forum which has a bargain section in it, where people post bargains they find etc. However, they have just pulled the bargain section and loads of members (the site had 20,000 members) have lost their fav part of the forum.

Thats where i would like to sep in. I own the domain bargainforum.com and would like to step in. I have never set up a forum and would like to know which is the quickest and easiest way to set one up.

Any help appreciated.

Well if you have cpanel you can install phpbb in the click of a mouse. Then you would have to modify it to suit your needs. It doesnt have all the neat features of this forum but it should do the trick.

It looks like this out of the bag www.dnads.com/forum, ok maybe I played with it a bit.

Gringo, What is the Bargain Site that you were talking about? I'm in the process of making a directory of the best deal sites out there, and am always looking for good ones to add to the list.

the bargain forum part of a site i use to visit has been shut down, which is why i want to replace it. Its also a UK site, so no good to you. I plan to cater for both the UK and the US. If you want to find bargains, go to www.dvdtalk.com which is a US site with a bargain section for dvd's and a bargain section for everything else. Very useful if you shop online, you can find e-coupons etc. there.

if you are serious about the site and its not like a hobby site or whatever i would definately use vbulletin - its miles better than phpbb - from an admin and a users point of view:)

I will probably go with the phpbb for now and if things take off, i will consider paying for the other one......i guess it depends on how it goes.

Now, anyone know of a cheap host that supports the phpbb? Something tells me that the 3mb of free space at registerfly isn't gonna be good enough

your probably right - start with phpbb and if it takes off consider vb

3meg definately isnt enough for a forum - try 30 meg+

forums also take up a lot of bandwidth so id look around the hosting foums and directories to see if you can get a good price

You can get hosting with unlimited webspace for $37.50, and you dont pay again until you use up 50 GIGs of bandwidth...also 99.9% uptime

I am also looking to set up Vbulletin but not sure how to go about it.
I checked vbulletin.com and after a little investigation I mainly get that I need a server??? Maybe Im not looking in the right places?

Anyway if someone can help me get it set up Im willing to donate 500 DNF$$s.

Thanks and any good host recommendations for the Vbulletin would be appreciated.
