If your using a half decent browser you only need to type in the domain now. The http://www. is already largely redundant.

The only thing you need to do is type domainofinterest and hit Ctrl+Enter. This is just one of the reasons why a .com name is more valuable than .net .org .us .de etc.

If you use Firefox you just type in domain of any extension and press go. The browser bar defaults elsewhere if you don't add the extension, usually to Google or Yahoo results depending on your browser. If people are actually paying more for dot com for this reason then they are pouring money down the drain!

But you have to type not only the domain name but also its [dot][extension]. Above I have described how you can type only the name and why there is no need to type any extension, if you want to access .com domain.

Apologies, this does actually work. However, this is still not a reason to buy dot com, as it not something that has anything to do with the DNS and could easily be changed with your next browser update. Furthermore, how many people actually know about it? I would be very surprised if more than 1% of all Type-In will actually ever be done this way.
