IDN's dropping like flies

Acroplex,
It has been a long time since I was last active in this forum: the time I was negotiating deals of gate.org and educational.net with you. Upon seeing the idn opportunity, I immediately acquired somes decent idns. I consider it one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I now receive email enquires about my idns at daily basis, many offering high prices. And guess what? it is still not late to step into the idn thingy -- there are still pure gold hidden not so deep under the ground.

What language idn's do you have, markits?

The problem with Asian idn's, for english speakers, is we don't know what is a good name or not. The characters are totally different and that is a huge barrier for most.

I have bought some french idn's because I'm familiar with that language, and they do get traffic.

But if the opportunity with idn's is so great it may be worth doing the necessary research. But then, what would I do with an Asian idn? Park it? Develop it? Tuck it away for later?

You were not exactly "negotiating"; you simply made lowball offers. There is a difference. If you're suggesting that your IDN's are in the long run more valuable than COM/NET/ORG dictionary words, I think you're in the minority there.

IDNs are already selling for more than .org and .net names

What a statement!

Back it up please.

You meant to say "garbage names".

And why do I care about IDN names?

Acroplex,
The fact is that now I won't trade one of my top Japanese domains for all your domains combined in your sig.
I acquired these idns based on funds I sold sprints.com, detroit.org etc, many premium ascii domains.

There are many legacy ascii domainers that are now soley doing IDNs. We have held top names and now its time for a change. We're striking it rich.

Hi hugegrowth,
My portfolio is mainly in Japanese and Chinese. There are many tools to assist native English speakers to determine value of an Asian domain. Two popular tools are overture bid checker and search checker. For example, keyword 金融 (finance in both Japanese and Chinese), the term has a top bid of about $20 per click at Japanese overture (total 72 ads, 7 ads above 2000 Japanese yuan per click). http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/se...k_JovmfEAjMFA3SDOCL2Izl_bs.&mkt=jp&lang=ja_JP

The term gets about half a million searches per month at yahoo:
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/?mkt=jp

Now imagine an English domain that gets 500,000 overture score with $20 per click at overture, what the value will it be?

In fact many top IDNers are native English speakers. If you look at their background, most of them have overseas experience. They understand that English is not the only language in the world. Japanese to Japanese is exactly the same as English to American.

Would American like to adopt English domains at the circumstances of Japanese or Chinese was the first default language for domains?

There are a few top idners that live in Japan and China.

Dude, whatever tickles your fancy. You're just launching a lame attempt to devaluate my domains and give an artificial boost to the Klingon (IDN) ghetto. I've been around long enough to know what BS smells like. And your post reeks of fresh, steamy manure :D

I am not capable of using the language you are using... but I was here before you were.

You were "here" - where exactly is "here"? If you mean DNForum, I first registered in 2002.

If you mean the domain industry, I made my 1st sale ever - a $2,500 domain - in 1998.

If you mean this planet, I was born 40 years ago - give or take a couple of months.

Trust me, after a good lunch I can whoop some serious ass. :P

Wow, you have had enough time to learn things, but it seems not yet..

EDUCATIONAL.net

Markits, move along bud. Trying to make the cut into the IDN fan-boi club? Well it ain't happening in my thread.

lol @ educational.net all my IDNs even my garbage ones beat that

Wizard boi please post your domains for us to judge. I've been asking you to since this thread was started. Let me guess, you own "manmeatmuncher" in all the major Asian languages? :D

As for Educational.net you need a psychiatrist to up your meds to a full gram dosage, if you disqualify its value.

"manmeatmuncher"
:pound:Sorry, I had to downsize that. My gut was hurting too much everytime I saw it or said that out loud.

:nono:Don't hate me. I own a little bit of everything...including IDN's and .mobi.

But I wonder where the statement regarding educational.net comes from. Not founded on anything but a low blow that was deflected.

I'm a realist and I see potential in a lot of things. If I look hard and deep enough I guess I can see even more.

But to not see the value, dynamics and marketability in a name like educational.net? That's lame.

What i'm trying to say is that people had a chance to get toys.com in another major language. Bigger ROI on that obviously.

Understood. Language is language. And sometimes what words mean in one language have an entirely different meaning in another. Sometimes not good. Same with numbers.

But for English speaking countries, educational.net is huge. That whole word and extension in itself is a keyword and key phrase and search term. It describes itself perfectly...that's the beauty of it.

On the other hand, chérie.net and 美味的.com won't fly here. But if you have MyLove.net or Delicacy.com...you've got a gem.

Marketing, brandability, relevancy.

I won't bash anyone's domain portfolio. Just my own.
