Interesting domain story... Buying a name back that I sold previously.

About 5 years ago I sold a domain for 145k and now the domain is up for sale and I am going to buy it back for 15k. They are just trying to cut their losses and I will be glad to buy the name back. I'll post the name after the sale closes.

Just wondering if anyone else has ever bought a name back they have sold.

Happened many times to me - bought and sod the same LLL.net a couple of times.

Yes, bought name for $300, sold for 10k and later bought back for $1500

Another name I sold for $1200 that I hand reg'd and then re-reg'd after it dropped and then resold it for $1500 and bought it back two years later for $100 when it was dropping.

Sometimes I think people just buy stuff because they like to haggle and are bored lol

not really. i dropped some domains, someone else bought them, they let the drop. then when i saw they were dropping again i registered them. thats about it.

I sold a domain name once, the buyer forgot/didn't know how to renew the domain, I caught the domain again and DONATED it to the buyer.

Yeah, it happened a couple times, but never in a high price range.

I sold a domain for $850 last year that I got as a Snap direct backorder, recently it dropped and I got it again with a Snap backorder.

Good luck earning 4% on a bank deposit.

In any case, buying back the name for pennies on the dollar when you've already made a profit is just opportunity for more profit, assuming demand for the name still exists.

You know what they say... the only thing better than winning is winning again.

Yes. Years ago I sold a domain for 5K. It dropped a year later. I picked it up and offered it to the original buyer
for registration fee. Never heard back from them.

I don't think I ended up reselling the domain (it wasn't very good).

Looking forward to the details on how they could possibly have rode out $xxx,xxx in lost investment ... interested in the particulars as much as the name itself. As in... are the current owners the ones you sold it to? If so, did you buy it back through a broker or directly....

I've also bought a few domains back but I paid more than I originally sold them for to do that.
