Im having trouble linking from my index page to the forum index...

if you want to change to phpbb go to http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php#converters and you can use the converter there to change ipb to phpbb

have you tried just backing up the database, uninstalling ipb deleting all files, then reinstall it and copy the database back?
