IReit acquired Netster.com (and most of their portfolio) today and also got a new round of investment capital to finance further expansion: http://www.dnjournal.com/lowdown.htm

Interesting but no mention of price paid, or an indication of why some bits of the portfolio are being taken over. I take is this is an acquisition of assets rather than corporate Entities? If so, is it reasonable to assume that the IDNs are staying where they are, with the ASCII being sold off as matured speculative investments.

Having met with IReit on many occasions, I can tell you they are a great group of people that will only make this industry better and bring it the credibility it deserves.

That was not my concern. I am sure they are great guys.

What I was fishing to find out is: Will the corporatate entity previously owning Netster.com maintain its independence and will it have a big pile of cash to expand what we suspect is already a sizeable IDN portfolio, or is that entity effectively being absorbed into iREIT, whose primary interest is likely to remain ASCII domains? The answer to the question could have profound implications.

The article makes mention of some interesting investors indirectly becoming involved in portfolio building. Perot Investments (founded by H. Ross Perot) as well as the chairman of Starbucks, Howard Schultz. The landscape is quickly changing.

Yep, one and the same. Guys, bottom line is hundreds of millions of dollars are now flowing into domain investments. This is true through iREIT as well as several other channels. Quality domains will only become more solid in value.

Cheers,

Kind of odd (even amusing) to be on the right side of an industry coming into its own. What was looked down upon somewhat (in its infancy) is now being recognized as the the future. Domain investors identified future opportunities long before the masses. And strangely, most still do not recognize the profound extent to which the internet (and domains) will lead the continuing evolution of the internet. I remember when no one even knew what Google was. Was not that long ago. Now look.
