Hi,

Congrats on sale...very nice!

Not to be a bummer...but

.TV would actually be a good domain extension...if the .TV actually stood for "television" and was not just from some little island in the south pacific made possible by "wacky" ICANN policys.

Peace,
Dan

BTW: I don't "hate" .tv ~ I just do not think its an extention to be investing a lot of money in...thats all.

Hi Kevin...I mean Kenny, LOL

I am just saying if .tv was develop and marketed specificly for TV at the beginning by ICANN with all the huge television companies behind it...Like .mobi is being developed for mobile phones by all the top 10-20 telco giants... .tv would have much more "street cred" than it does now.

If this extention had been marketed and develop in this fashion from the beginning...instead of getting 20K for this domain...it would have sold for 50K+

Peace,
Dan

This is the difference between people with and without vision.

A $20k sale.

I have SOlD about $10k/25 names in the .TV extension this year because I share the same vision as James.

I have to say, regaurdless of what something actually means it IS MAREKETED AS TELEVISON. I see it every single day on TV.

It is well documented and does not need your or my validation.

No Vision?....I am sorry we all cannot be as "enlighted" as you are AD...LOL

You do not need to take my observations and opinion(s) so personally.

BTW AD...My "Vision" might end up being very bad...but I have "bet" a lot on my "vision" of the IPTV domain market thats at least 2+ years away.

Peace,
Dan

I am sorry, but I hate it when somone is posting about a great sale, and then someone comes along and say "too bad it doesnt really mean TV" or any negative thing like that. I mean, why come along and say that type of thing, when you could actually say something like WOW Nice Sale! Maybe I should have bought some of those!

Thats all.

Look at my post...I did say "congrats on a nice sale" which is sincere...its great!

I hope the domain extention continues to increase in value for everyone that owns .TV's

I am sorry if my observations and post upset you...This was not my intent.

Peace,
Dan

Just a shame that it is going to go down at the same time as Porn.com. Not exactly going to get top billing!

I think Mr. Jackson will certainly give this one a nice plug/mention is the next sales report. Great sale indeed.

As for the "TV" thing, I am always seeing commercials for .tv sites promoting them as "TV" sites. Besides, the masses who arent in domaining automatically assume .TV means television anyway as I did when I started. Thats a pointless argument imho.

Thanks to all for your kind comments and feedback......

I don't take differences of opinions or criticism personally - unless it is malicious, and I saw none of that so far.......

I have my own blog that you can peruse at your own pleasure for a deeper understanding on my take of the .tv extension and its recent marketing by Demand Media....

But to make a few points here........ .tv is one of the most powerful if nor the most powerful globally recognised two letter word.

For the last 60 years or so, TV has remained the number one leisure activity and has never lost that spot.......

If people can watch TV/Video on demand on their laptops/desktops with the same quality or better than they currently do on their their TV, it is a branding dream come true for Verisign.

That vision has now been handed over to Demand Media to sell to the world, both the You Tube crowd and the entertainment and business industry.

We are almost at the point where the technology will catch up with the vision described.

Joost has recently completed a $45 million VC round , where THEY chose from investors all lined up to get in on the inevitable......

Bill Gates has gone on the record to say that the technology will be avilable by 2010 at the latest.....

If you want a TV show broadcast over the net...choosing the .TV extension beats .com as the extension of choice for your companys presence on the web.......

Every day more and more industry players are buying into .TV.........the last six years have been dormant because the technology did not and could not support the branding....

But listen to my PODCAST interview with Jeremy Padower - he made his fortune with .com - from 1996 - 2000......and he has stated on the record that in 2007, anyone who does not take the extension seriously is missing out ina major way.......

.TV will never replace .com - and that is precisely why it is such a valuable ext....it means a website that is interactive with a heavy focus on video content....whilst .com could quite easily contain the same content, it does not imply it from its name.........

This tzunami wave was set off by an earthquake back in 2000....its waves have taken quite some time travelling the globe in its outreach program......but when it hits ashore......people will remember it for a very long time to come
