:-D

Sale concluded successfully (just confirmed by Sedo's department). I will disclose the selling price at 6pm today.

Last chance to guess what it went for and win its equivalent in DNF$ - if you fall within 10% of the actual selling price.

Without further ado, I'm happy to announce that the selling price was $1,666 :-D
Quite an appropriate number for Kingdom of Hell!

Unfortunately no-one came close enough to claim the prize. Thank you all for your appraisals. Let this be a lesson in "Gut Feeling 101" :-D

My negotiation went like this:

Offer: $1,400
Me: $1,800
Counter-offer: $1,500
Me (being cheeky): $1,666
Buyer accepted.

The days of great cheap & short domains are over; time to monetize the great "not so short" ones. I particularly liked the post who said I'm a "sick freak". As an avid CS player I'm tempted to say "p0wn3d, b1+ch".

Why would they? If one is determined to pay $1,400 they would probably pay $1,666. But that's not the point, the "triple six" figure sealed the sale because apparently the other party appreciated the inner joke of linking a "hell" of a domain to the mystic number associated with it.

Now I need to think where to invest this "satanic" funds in :-D

Nice sale Radi. I think seeker's post most sums up the position. It's not a question of whether an appraiser "personally likes" a domain. There's no room for a lot of subjectivity in name appraising. You need to look at the potential market; who's going to be a candidate for it, etc.etc. This is obviously a name that would have worked well in the 'ogrish.com' market -- as disgusting as I personally find that; but just because I don't like it, it doesn't mean that the big bucks aren't out there. Now tell me what I'm going to do with nazis.org :) -- and no references to "where the sun don't shine"...

I sold some names WAY better than this one for FAR less when the post 9/11 economy collapsed. Names such as HellGod.com, DeadCorpse.com and others. I'm not turned off by morbid or shock-factor names. Sold a "KKK" domain to a human rights activist. It's important to remember that it's a business and you're in for the profit. If it's a hobby, then one needs to remember that hobbyists must specialize in a genre or it becomes a waste of time and money.

As for the assaulting comments you received in that thread, all I can say is "revenge is a dish eaten cold". :-D
