Buyout clause added and details:

Yes, $1 Starting price and No Reserves BUT>>>>

A buyout clause is offered. Details: Buyout Clause - Seller may choose to use the Buy Out option if selling expectations are not met. The Buy Out will be 20% of final sales price with a max of $10.00. It will be the responsibility of the Seller to notify the winning bidder privately if the Buy Out option is chosen.

Example: Seller offers qwoktyxjeir.com. $1 start, no reserve. Bidding concludes at $68. Seller desired to get at least $100. So hmmm... he does not want to sell. So he tells winning bidder, "I am invoking the buyout clause". The winning bidder is sad but has to accept. So winning bidder is given 20% of $68 /or/ $10, whichever is less. 20% of $68 is $13.60. So the seller has to pay the winning bidder $10 via Paypal by invoking the buyout clause. Seller then retains qwoktyxjeir.com. Transaction concluded.

Send your names you want added to Friday's afternoon auction queue to email: submitnames@gmail.com

A problem I have seen is as follows. I would auction my lll.infos etc however I am not prepared to pay up to $10 if there is a poor turnout or no interest. It is in no way logical. If you want good domain the owner should be able to set a reserve for free, and incur no costs at all.

Hi Tom, I somewhat agree with your comment about poor turnout ... however if the domain is worthy there will always be interest. In regards to the poor turnout however, Wired and I are working on this aspect as well. We are going to set a stipulation for this auction in regards to this fact. The stipulation will be something like that there must be atleast 25 auction participants for this auction to proceed. Therefore if we have less than 25 participants, then the auction will be postponed until the next week.

We will decide on this stipulation and post an update shortly.

Thanks,

John

I understand what your saying, however I do not understand what damage there is in allowing sellers to set reserves. Providing all participants know that there is a reserve, whats the problem?

I second for that. A reserve may help.

From past experience, Some domainers have set reserve prices or starting prices that were generally too high. If the domain is worthy, the bids will come, in most cases, either meeting or exceeding the expected seller's price. However, if the domain has a reserve or staring price that is too high, the domain may not get any bids at all because of this and result in wasted live auction time. If that domain had no reserve or starting price to begin with, the sellers expectations could have been met during the flow of the auction at no reserve with more bids and participation.

Our goal is to provide a live auction that flows well and has lots of participation. Reserves or Starting Bid prices have affected this negatively in the past so therefore this auction will be a No Reserve Auction with a Buy Out Clause option of 20% with a $10.00 cap. This is to benefit all participants of the auctions, being buyers and sellers. Wired and I, among others, have done these live chat room auctions many times before, and from past experience the best sales were the domains with no reserve or no starting price.

The participation requirement stipulation has now been added to the details of the main thread above.

We invite you to join us and participate in the event whether buying or selling.
