Hey guys if you were making an affiliate program would you want people to apply for it so you can approve them or let them sign up instantly? What do you think is the best way?

I don't see any benefit in having to review an affiliate prior to accepting them into a program.

The signup process should be very easy and instant because the person is in the mood and obviously has time "now" to join and possibly implement the program.

Perhaps in the day or two it would take until they're manually approved they find another program.

Having an instant approval setup would also save you precious time.

Good luck

I agree with ClickNow.to, you can just delete their account later on if they get out of hand.

It depends on how busy this affiliate system is going to get. And what approval system you had in mind? I mean - for you is the approval system just a rubber stamp? If so, just go ahead and do automatic approval. It will save you time in the long run. And some people might not want to sign up knowing they might have to wait. (we are in the internet age where everyone expects it yesterday.)

I know that we run two different types of affiliate system on our websites. One, is just a basic link / banner link to our website. These people are approved right away. No waiting, etc. The other one, well they are still approved right away, they just have to sign an application.

What do you guys think if I would be advertising this program and getting like 20 signups a day? Would I need to approve or disapprove?

It depends - is this the only thing you are doing? If it is just a rubber-stamp, then I would say automatic approval.

We have actually signed up on one that we have to be approved. This was more than three weeks ago. So naturally right now - this "wait for approval" for affiliate programs has left a bad taste in my mouth. I had one sale but that was lost.

Depends on what you are "affiliating" ... you wouldn't want a porn site affiliating one of your bible sales site's ... etc. With that said, automatic approval is what people want. I hate waiting on affiliate approvals and have waited for some for a very long time before i just went elsewhere.

Good luck!

I think it depends on what products you are selling and how special the pricing is etc.

I personally, would not do automatic approval because I would not want my competitors to be able to log in instantly, see my products, see my payouts and possibly figure out any proprietary information.

But if it was approval I bet the competitor could get in anyways if they played it smooth and used a different site they have in the application orsomething :-/

I think every scenario is different. I happen to contact our affiliates by phone or email to see what types of promotions they are planning before I approve them.
