marketoverview international Domains
(sorry for the layout)

TLD, registered Domains, comparison to the previous year
.de 8.840.396 + 14,6
.uk 4.226.097 n. a.
.nl 1.540.197 + 32,8
.it 1.071.046 + 20,1
.ch 713.682 + 13,2
.dk 606.672 + 14,1
.at 433.152 + 22,9
.be 438.382 + 28,4
.fr 375.500 + 40,2
.se 346.124 n. a.
.cz 203.519 + 19,4
.es 94.831 + 19,4
.ie 48.564 + 23,1
cno 48.703.153 + 27,4
.com 39.116.211 + 29,8
.net 5.917.528 + 19,4
.org 3.669.414 + 17,2
.info 3.612.026 + 194,4
.biz 1.182.315 + 18,5
.us 862.129 + 14,0
.br 781.848 + 22,4
.cn 622.534 + 62,9
.jp 734.520 4 + 25,0
.kr 612.644 0,0

This helps a bit to find the fastest markets. You can see that .fr grow for 40%, the reason I think is that the registry opened a bit last year.
China is still a hype. .nl and .be looks very popular too.

Useful stuff, thanks. Do you have any data on IDN at all? The best I can do at the moment is to use Yahoo Advanced search and see how many pages come up, but that is a very rough and ready measure!

Yes, Denic used to post the number of dot DE IDN on their site. It was at about 260K, but they seem to have stopped this feature.

Thanks Freddy, Germany is big market for IDN and I believe they have far more IDN registered as dot com and not necessarily all in German. German speculators are active in both Arabic, Russian and Chinese markets. IDN is not a mystery to the Germans, as they have plenty experience in the home markets. Obviously, the potential in Chinese is much greater than in European Languages where these are only required for "special" characters.

Hi Dave,

I think you are right. for the moment EuroDNS did not enabled the TLDs for IDN, perhaps I should explore a bit more the markets.

I personally believe that www.Domainsite.com offers the best service for IDN and are not too expensive. If you have Unicode characters you can just paste them in and register. Biggest problem is getting the characters. That is where a good online dictionary comes in. Google Language tools are not too bad, but there are other more specific dictionaries available for each country, many of them free. You might like to have a look at:
