I hope i m learning.... lets check...
Of course its about IDNs.

just regged €market.com

some considerations...

1) in Europe the char "€" means "euro" and "euro" is also used as shortage for "european".
Let me explain better: we mostly use euromarket to mean european market, and making it shorter euromarket = €market; its like an american saying "americanmarket" .

2) the symbol "€" is actually present in all the new european keyboards (2 keystrokes needed, as per $ on american keyboards), we have also the "$" symbol and i think in future all the american keyboards will prolly have also the "€" euro symbol.
Why ?
Just because in the past the US $ was the strongest and worldwide most used currency, almost all world was using it, but now ?
In 3 years the $ lost over 50% against € and still keep loosing.... i remember i was getting 1€ and 30 €cents for 1$, now i can get 1$ and almost 40 $cents for 1€.
The "euro" area is getting wider year after year, economically, population wise and geographically...
Of course I dont mean the US $ will disappear from the intl transactions and markets , but i think soon the € will join as referring currency, in some cases its already happening.

I wish to hear your opinions.. and of course if possible to get an appraise.
Thx.

I can't give an appraisal on IDN's because I dont personally know anything about them or how to type them ... but

do you not just say "I am going to the market" instead of "I am going to the euromarket?" ... I've never heard an american say "american market". Just my 2 cents

Good luck with your domain though,

John

i dont think anybody surfing the web says "i am going to the market on internet", american or european or whatever...
let me shift a bit the question.... i know that market.com or car.com are lots more valuable, does this make uscar.com or usamarket.com or americancar.com worthless ? btw all the TLDs for both "uscar" and "usmarket" are already gone....
i daily see also in this forum ppl trying to acquire or register domains with strange names, just because the basic names are already all gone....
we are talking about new registrations...... and about an almost virgin huge market (the european one) dont forget it ....
I dont know if its possible to define "€" as just an IDN char.... so many countries involved....
unfortunately you cant use "$" as chars to make IDNs, but if you could i bet there have been thousands of domains like "$cars.com" or "$insurances.com" or "$market.com"

There are ust too many unknowns to really appraise it at this point. If you got it at reg fee then think of it as an investment. Right now it's probably worth reg fee, but when we all get our new european keyboards it may be worth thousands ;-)

I dont think you all gonna get european keyboards, also because there isnt such an "european keyboard" , just localized keyboards.
But as i said prolly u gonna get keyboards with the "€" char.
Thanks all for your valuable opinions.

ok, there is no way in Europe (:-) ) that the Euro sign means European, nor does it stand for European.
It simply means, Euro, the currency.
So you could say it is like saying dollarmarket, NOT American market
While euro can mean european, the euro sign stands only for the currency.

Other than that, it is nice and catchy, but VERY hard to appraise.
for now, reg fee, but could increase in the future.
Good luck with it!

Yep its like saying euromarket
sounds great to me, even better than europeanmarket
just regged also eurodomains, eurocard (there is a TM issue for eurocard but not for €card), eurocar, euroinsurances and many others (all with € for euro)
they really sound better than europeanwhatever
i am just betting on the chance that € will became widely used for "euro"
thxx for your answer
