Overture is not the same as adsense, why do people insist on comparing them?? A click that is worth $100 at overture can cost 50 cents at Google

Really? There is of course a difference but going from $100 to .50c as you say would seem to make no sense, are you sure about that? Why do you think there would be such a huge disparity between the click values?

Why would a publisher agree to pay OV so much more than he would pay Google since a click is a click. It would seem a publisher would be willing to pay about the same regardless of the source unless I am missing something?

Simply because of these kind of sites. The net is flooded with all kind of directories and crummy sites (no pun intended, GT) that are built just for the purpose of displaying adsense banners.

So, advertisers started realizing that they were getting clicks from totally untargeted traffic, their advertising costs were too high and they weren't making any sales, so many of them don't display their ads on sites any more, they just use adwords when you do a search at Google's site, and the people that kept showing their ads on websites turned their bidding down to avoid wasting their money. An untargeted 50 cent click may not hurt much as a $20 one would.

When someone posted on a forum that mesitheloma (however you spell it) was costing big bucks at Overture it was like a gold fever all around the net, people building these sites and expecting their account to be flodded with money, and later discovered that they were still getting clicks worht a few cents.

Yes, I am sure G pays the keyword good but how do you know how much they pay? Do you have a Channel for it? Have you had many clicks yet?

$18 is low as the last time I checked (a few mos ago) Overture bids it was paying $100 a click.
I am aware of Overture's bids. Read my post, as I was referring to payouts to Adsense's webmasters. $18 is high, haven't heard of much higher.

I wonder if the ratio of information to ads makes a difference? I've been trying something similar at eMesothelioma.org with the goal of providing more in-depth information about the actual illness and a clearer separation between ads and content. Any thoughts on this site and TOS issues, etc?

Excellent content. It seems to have worked in that your adsense is so well targeted.

Well laid out site. Maybe a shorter domain name would be nice? asbestossuit.com and asbestos-suit.com I can sell to you. You could also add a subsite for each state: I have almost every US state: NYmesothelioma.com for example.

For some reason I prefer ads on the right and nav bar on the left.

Wow, I never knew there was a class action in regards to Vioxx (I just looked in Google now). And to think, people are still buying this stuff :dead:

Perhaps one of you could launch unscrupulous-ambulance-chasers.org?
