The name is worth zero. It doesn't make any sense. The better the name, the easier it is to explain to a random person. Would a total stranger take this name for free? I doubt it. Would an experienced domainer have this name in his/her portfolio? Nope.

Very few people have the skills to reinvent the language of the world and make words go together that normally don't. These are the types of names you need to avoid....stick to the basics.

Hi,

You're an experienced domainer? Then i guess the whole revolution of domain tv has passed you by ?In case you don't visit dnjournal (you should ,great site) I have provided a link, you should read.I haven't suggested it is better than a .com, it is next best. I haven't suggested it will be particularly interesting about mortgages, but all the big players will need a good domain & relevant. Have a read in full, it will be an eyeopener for you.
I only have one domain of this type & it is speculative as the .net
I have a good collection & am relatively experienced, 6 years of domaining.

The subject of that article has one of the worst names I have ever seen....WorldNetCast.com. I'll bet you any amount of money you want that less than 50 percent of the people who saw that name would be able to remember it exactly just five minutes later. I had to check three times just to write this.

Is it WorldNetCast.com, WorldCastNet.com, or is it WorldNet.com, or WorldCast.net? Close your eyes for ten seconds and then tell me what it is.

You are headed to the poor house if you are six years in and you want to invest in MortageTV.net.

I see you didn't get past the first line then, oh dear.
Anyone who knows anything, knows Dnjournal is probably the most respected site on the net regarding domains. Read the article in full. Don't worry about the appraisal, just for the education, which you sorely need.
Nathan Sasson is wildly successful & is transforming the net as we know it. It already is headed toward more broadcasting than information. Hey, both!
People are entiltled to any opinion they like, but not if they don't gem themselves up on what's going on!
Do me a favour, don't post anymore. I would like a balanced opinion by someone who is aware of this type of domain. Have a look around & read the article.

Have to comment on what you say about their domain. If you have never heard of netcasting , & you think worldnetcast is a bad name, then you should stop whatever you're doing now.
There are some jerks on any site you go, but the rubbish that you individually spou on it seems evry post you make is staggering.

I don't care how much money he has made...his company name makes for a horrible domain. If you can't see it then that's your problem. Once again....I bet you can't tell me what it is right now without looking it up.

This name was unregistered until August 6th of this year. So, you read an article in DN Journal and rushed out to register this name? I'm thinking that you are the one who is playing the banjo. You could register this name for 50 years and never receive an unsolicited offer to buy the name.

By all means....keep buying these names and let me know how they work out.

That's the beauty of this opportunity. The best .com's went in the nineties. Sassoon had many doubters back then. He held on & the technology arrived including mass take up of broadband which was essential. He regged 1100 domains & sat on them & waited. It paid off.
One example i'll give why it is an opportunity for the future couple of years. I live in a place called Chesterfield in England. I don't know who owns the domains (.co., .co.uk) etc but they will be worth a lot as they are place names, in many places in the world & a type of furniture, which is hugely popular. Our local council, if they had any sense would reg chesterfieldtv.com & sit tight, as many sites (if you check you'll see) have broadcasting sites up & running. For these smaller places , there is no take up just yet. Obviously all the major places & interests have gone. eg. londontv.com etc traveltv.com etc In time all the small place names will go, just like every other domain has gone. For a small place to get the name of their area in a .com or .co.uk would cost thousands now. They could prob get the .com for $9 now . It after all the way things are headed. Not sure where you live dude, but you could do worse than reg just your areatv.com if freeRegards, Guy

Sassover's names are actually all pretty low quality. If he has good development skills or otherwise excels in partnering up with big companies, then that has nothing to do with the value of his domain names, most of which wouldn't be registered by me for $8.

Mortgage does not make people flock to their tv sets.

Online might be a different story. But still, kind of boring watching a talking head for a while. Personally I'd rather read up on the subject.

Overall, I think that netcasting is going to be a huge blow to network tv.

When it becomes mainstreams then MortgageTV.net will likely be worth something. More than XX, anyways. Till then, hang on to the name and see what happens.

Regards.

Keep in mind that it's people like that who make something a household term while a few years back no one's heard of the thing. In a few years you will be kicking yourself for missing an opportunity to acquire certain domains. I'm sure most of us will, myself included.

Regards.

Reply to whodatdog posting:

I don't think he'll lose any sleep about what you do or don't do to be honest. The facts are there. You are right about one thing though. Devbelopment is key I have many domains & websites i have developed & am developing. Sitting around waiting for things to happen gets you nowhere. Unless you own top domains for traffic, but it's such a shame. Look at property.com Sitting there undeveloped. A crappy parking page. The options to click aren't even good. Anyway that's another subject Let's put this to bed. I have tried to explain. Goodbye

I simply gave an appraisal on what the name was worth now....and that is zero. 120 years from now every single living creature on the planet will be gone, so no one can look too far ahead. You read an article about a guy who supposedly has made millions, but I really don't think he made the money with domain names. He made his money in development, and he never even thought to register MortgageTV.net. How can this name be worth anything until you acquire the dotcom anyways?

We just have a difference of opinion on what constitutes value. I don't believe you would get a bid if you ran this name through an auction with no reserve. That's how I look at names.

That's basically what it comes down to. Until we get a governing body on domain appraisal standards, the way domains are valued will vary dramatically. But the buyer will always have the final word.

Regards to both of you. Keep on domaining.

As the famous chef Emril would say: "BAM"

take that in 2 ways
1. No one was cooking and yelling BAM a few years ago
2. It has been some time since I saw someone get cooked so fast!

no offense meant to either party in this post, but damn...it was a great read from the sideline.

Cheers.

you really shouldnt get offended or take things personal if we dont like your domains, it looks often like you are trying to chase the latest hype with your domains, i am sorry to say, but all the domains you posted here so far for appraisal are not good, spend your money that you would spend on 100 terrible domains on one good one and develop it, because what you are saying about development is true, most people are too lazy to do it, but even a crappy name if you develop it will not make it most of the time, so buy a good name and dont try to register one that only you seem to think is good. good luck
