Stands for "National Association for the Advancement of Colored People" -- it's a US-based organization -- see naacp.org

Depending on your politics, it may be worth something as a donation to that association. Otherwise, I'd say look out, they have a lot of resources and very smart people and lawyers on their side... you won't be holding that domain for long.

Major trademark problems with this domain. I not only agree with attorney Harold Hunter, but I would add that I am surprised that the naacp has not contacted you yet. I know the naacp to be very active enforcers of their rights. It's not just a coincidence that the naacp owns the registration to derogatory terms such as "n*gger.com" and others. :-O

$0 appraisal IMO.

Regards,

Joe

Actually, I've had this domain for some time. Since the domain is not active, there are no "rights" to enforce, since no infringement of their trademark has occurred.

Thanks for the input.

Yes, but unfortunately, their rights have an effect on yours, and that's why my appraisal for your domain is $0. You're welcome for the comments gph, and best of luck to you on all your domain registrations.

I never said nor meant to imply that the naacp owns a trademark to the term "n*gger.com". I don't know what trademarks they own. My point is that the naacp is an active enforcer of their rights, as they understand them.

I know what you were trying to imply, I was just joking.

As in, "I myself then better get a rights for BigNose.com too."

Only in America :-)

and that is why this is appraised at $0. no one would want it just to have. people usually buy domains to either make a profit or to develop on them.

rjerina,

thanks for the "yeah, what he said!" post

There are numerous reasons why people buy domains; you mentioned two of them, but there are others.

Come now, I think you know what I'm talking about. Just one of the other reasons to register a domain has already been cited above, namely, to keep it off the market - either to avoid its being "abused" [however one defines that] or to prevent a competitor from using it. I'll let you figure out the others.

This discussion is, however, getting off track. The domain has been appriased at $0, so I think we can all move on, eh? :approve:

Don't be so obtuse, rjerina. You know as well as I do that the evaluation of $0 was given AFTER my initial request for appraisal, not before.

Moderators - can you please do us all a favor and close this thread?

Thanks
